How can I minimize downtime when moving my site(s)?
How can I minimize downtime when moving my site(s)?
Solution
In order to ensure little or no downtime to your site, follow the following procedures:
1. Order your new account with NGHosting
2. You will be provided with an IP address immediately in your welcome e-mail. You may upload all files to this address via FTP, and test them using the link provided in the e-mail.
3. Once all files are uploaded and tested to be working, you may change your DNS information via your registrar.
4. The site will propagate over the next few days around the internet. Following the steps above will ensure that your site is accessible both on your previous server, and new.
